The Hotel Ala is found right in the
heart of Venice, just a few steps from San Marco Square near the
Accademia Gallery, the Fenice Theatre Palazzo Grassi and Ca' Rezzonico.
It is clearly one of the best 3 star hotels of Venice.
What is now the Hotel Ala, was once a antique noble residence that dates
back somewhere to the XVIII century and as you can see, certain
paintings in the hotel date back to around the ‘700’s, There is even a
spectacular piece done by the famous artist Canalletto. |
The palace was transformed into a hotel in the 60’s and for just a
little over 15 years it has been run by the Salmaso family.
From San Marco Square walking in the direction of the Academia Bridge,
you will come to Campo Santa Maria del Giglio, where you will find a
lovely church by the same name. This same campo is also called Zobenigo
in the memory of the small family that had residence here, in this small
piazza that over looks the very picturesque, Grand Canal.
It is here in this small corner of Venice that you will find the unique
Hotel Ala. It has been completely remodelled and all the common areas as
well of the rooms have the Venetian charm that one would expect to
experience while visiting this fantastic city. The very unique floors
done in "Terrazzo" style that have been preciously decorated with
Venetian “murrine” or mosaic pieces. The walls are covered with a very
interesting type of “stucchi veneziani” which is a traditional type of
finish that exists in Venice and this particular job dates back to the
'700’s and is done by hand.
The surroundings are all beautifully tied together by an important white
marble staircase that goes to the first floor, to the west side of the
house. Here you will notice the fantastic glass chandelier masterpieces
done by Giorgio Ferro, a famous glass master from famous island of glass,
Murano. |
The Hotel Ala has two wings of the hotel that house 85 lovely
guest accommodations that have been recently remodelled and upgraded
with the most modern comforts. There are original pieces from the 800’s
and 900’s that make the hotel charming and elegant.
Thanks to the professional staff and perfect location of the hotels,
